Iām super behind but can someone share details about the retreat in the DR?
I was asked a couple of times to provide a list of iron supplements. Be sure to check with your Doctor before starting anything new because it is possible to overdose on Iron.
Types of Iron Supplements:
Ferrous Sulfate
One of the most commonly prescribed and least expensive
Available in tablet, liquid, and slow-release forms
Ferrous Fumarate
Higher iron concentration than ferrous sulfate
Commonly found in over-the-counter supplements
Ferrous Gluconate
A milder form that is easier on the stomach
Common in over-the-counter formulations
Ferric Citrate
Generally used for certain medical conditions like kidney disease
Requires stomach acid for absorption, so it's often taken with food
Carbonyl Iron
Slow-release form of iron
May be less likely to cause stomach issues
Heme Iron Polypeptide (HIP)
Made from animal sources and may be more easily absorbed
Often found in "gentle" iron supplements
Iron Bisglycinate
Known to be easier on the digestive system
Often found in formulations aimed at reducing gastrointestinal side effects
Liquid Iron
Useful for those who have difficulty swallowing pills
May come in various forms like ferrous sulfate or gluconate
Iron-Enriched Multivitamins
Vitamins that include iron among other nutrients
Suitable for those who need a general nutrient boost
Plant-Based Iron Supplements
Made from food sources like curry leaves or spinach
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
Remember that the type of iron supplement appropriate for an individual can depend on several factors, including the reason for supplementation, age, and existing medical conditions.
